Overview

We are looking for an Experienced  Sea Kayak Guide with an X factor to help us during our busy season from November 2017 until March 2018.

We are also looking for a qualified Surf Instructor to guide surf safaris during the same season and ideally this needs to be the same person.

We need someone with the following attributes:

Qualifed surf instructor/ experienced kayak guide.

Heaps of Charisma, quick witted, big personality and enthusiasm! Truck loads of enthusiasm and positivity to keep the vibe of all of our trips awesome!

Likeable and able to relate to all ages and abilities. We need someone who is not afraid to spin a great story and keep our guests entertained on the slower days, you may need to be the kingpin of conversation to get the group dynamic gelling!

Experience with reading weather & wind patterns

Quick at learning and retaining information,

Currently have or willing to learn local knowledge and information about flora, geology,fauna and maori history.

Trained and skilled in on water rescues with current first aid certificate.

Full driving License

New Zealand working visa

French or German speaking would be a bonus. English must be perfect.

Kayaking certificates would be preferable.

Well presented, great manners and well spoken, psychically strong – able to move double kayaks onto a trailer alone

Able to provide 5 star service to our clients as we offer very high end trips. ( lots of cruise ship passengers) And go above and beyond to ensure all participants have a memorable trip.

Able to confidently park and reverse a trailer.

You will be required to find accommodation in Akaroa town and reside here for the summer, you will be on call for kayak trips which run twice daily, sometimes with short notice. Work will be varied depending on weather conditions etc.

If you can also teach surfing :

You would need to be on call for surf safaris which operate on incoming bookings potentially twice a day, you will be teaching no more than 7 participants at a time, you will need to be comfortable with driving while giving commentary on the area, meeting and greeting clients and acting as a tour guide as well as executing a 1.5 hour hands on surf lesson.

Role involves pick up and drop off for clients

Shifting equipment and loading boards onto roof racks.

Giving a running commentary on the area as you transport the clients.

Being timely and efficient running to a schedule

Interacting with all participants ensuring they all maximise their time in the water

We are happy to negotiate rates of pay for the right person
