About Alpine Recreation Canterbury Ltd.

Founded by Gottlieb Braun-Elwert, Alpine Recreation has been operating since 1981. Gottlieb's daughter, Elke, continues to run the company, supported by a loyal team of guides and a dedicated General manager, Axel Reiser. We have two private huts, one in the Two Thumb Range, which is very busy through the winter with Backcountry Ski Courses, nordic and alpine ski touring. The other hut, Caroline Hut, on Ball Ridge, straight opposite the Caroline Face of Aoraki, enables us to guide Ball Pass Treks and run mountain skills courses. We cater for a broad range of clients from easy summer treks to technical climbs such as Aoraki/Mt Cook and the advanced ski traverse, "Symphony on Skis". For passionate mountain lovers the work opportunities are rewarding.
