Do you want to spend your days beside the water at one of New Zealand’s most unique outdoor events venues and water sports park?

Backpaddock Lakes is looking for a Site Manager to be a part of our team.

Backpaddock Lakes is a destination venue – a unique outdoor events and wedding venue and New Zealand’s go-to water sports park located in Central Hawke’s Bay, ten minutes south of Waipukurau.

Backpaddock Lakes is made up of three manmade lakes, our Cable Park runs two cable wakeboarding systems. We also have a large boating, sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking lake with carefully designed slalom waterskiing course, and our wetlands lake with native planting and wildlife.

We are quickly growing as an outdoor events and wedding venue with purpose-built facilities for weddings and large events. We also hold several of our own events each year, and we are an increasingly popular location for school visits and camps, and corporate teambuilding and social events.

The role:

The role is incredibly varied, part visitor experience and part grounds and maintenance, with great job perks of being Lakeside while you work, with the chance to wakeboard, ski or paddle board after work.

This is a new role, and we’re looking for someone extra special to join us.

You would be responsible for Backpaddock Lakes good looks.

Taking care of general maintenance, upkeep of the grounds, assisting our Events Manager with events and activities, and managing the day to day operations of Backpaddock Lakes.

Working with our Director and Events Manager, you will be one of the key people ensuring our visitors have an incredible Backpaddock Lakes experience.

The Lake sits within a working Farm, so during any down time at the Lake you would assist with general farm work.

This role is part time (approx. 30 hours a week) and a mixture of week day and weekend work. As Backpaddock Lakes continues to grow so the role has great potential to grow too.

Backpaddock Lakes is currently open to the public from September to April, so we are keen to have our new Site Manager on board to start the season with us. What do the day to day requirements look like?
·         Maintain the Grounds to a high standard including lawnmowing, gardening, cleaning and general maintenance.

·         Assist Events Manager with event bookings and venue management including greeting visitors, setting up events and hosting.

·         Responsibility for Backpaddock Lakes Health & Safety compliance and delivery (health & safety is really important to us!)

·         Upkeep and maintenance of Lakes equipment and preparation for bookings. Equipment includes Cable Park Wakeboarding gear, Paddle Boards, Kayaks and Yachts.

·         Assist with general farm work as required. Full training is provided and prior farm experience is not necessary.

·         Manage any casual/temp staff as required over the Lake season.

In order to be successful in this role, we’re looking for:

·         Personality is very important – we need a super friendly and welcoming personality, we want you to enjoy helping our visitors have a great experience

·         Have a good level of practical skills and an interest to develop and grow your skill base

·         Great attention to detail, particularly in relation to upkeep of the grounds

·         Be proactive and reliable

·         Ability to work happily on your own, managing your own time

·         Have an interest in the tourism and events industry

·         Eligible to work in NZ

·         An interest in watersports or wakeboarding would be an advantage but is not necessary
