About the Role
YMCA Camp Adair is currently looking for a motivated, outgoing and committed staff member to join their team as a Safety and Training Manager.
As the successful applicant, you will oversee the training and development of the Instructional staff and ensure that safety related policy and procedures are at or above industry standard and being adhered to by all YMCA Camp Adair staff.
You will also be responsible for supporting the Programme Manager in programme delivery, programme development, recruitment and delivering feedback to staff to help maintain a motivated and positive Outdoor Instructor team of 20+. There will also be opportunities to continue in the field and instruct at the ground level during high operational periods.
As the Safety and Training Manager you must have experience in outdoor education and outdoor pursuits, preferably NZOIA Rock 1 or similar, current industry knowledge/experience in Adventure Activities legislation, PHEC or similar first aid training, group management and leadership experience. It’s likely you have Instructed within the outdoor industry for some time and are looking to take on a new challenge. An excellent attitude and commitment is essential as the Safety and Training Manager will be required to have a significant level of customer, instructor and management team interaction. The successful applicant must have the ability to communicate, build relationships and lead others.
