Overview

We are seeking a passionate, experienced outdoors guru to join our whanau at the Boyle.

The Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre has a rare opportunity for you to join the team in this new role as our Programme Coordinator.

The position will suit a positive, cheerful, fun outdoor instructor with a ‘can do’ attitude that wants to move higher in their career.

Join us and facilitate our educational, multi-activity and journey programmes while learning the “Boyle Way” and the role of Programme Coordinator. If you are an inspirational instructor who is committed and enthusiastic and looking to transition into a leadership role then this is the position for you!

The Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre is a leading provider of outdoor education, located at the southern end of the Libretto Range in the Lewis Pass area. We are surrounded by bush, mountains and rivers that afford us unique opportunities for outdoor experiences, for our clients and staff alike. You will be working alongside a dedicated team to help inspire and extend the potential of young people to be lifelong learners and to understand how they can learn about and contribute to their world.

All this, positioned amongst the majesty of the Southern Alps as your workplace.

We offer staff ongoing training opportunities, a great working environment and can provide accommodation while working at our centre. All staff are required to be vetted by the New Zealand Police, and be successfully inducted into our Safety Management System.

NZOIA qualifications are desirable in Bush, Rock, and Ropes Course experience is essential. A Level 2 qualification is also desirable. However, we are happy to support and train the right person, with the right attitude!

Now…let’s talk money – we offer a very competitive salary with your previous experience being considered.

What will you be doing?

Programmes are varied according to the groups’ needs, with the focus on sustainability, educational and personal development outcomes. But one thing never changes – you have the opportunity to provide safe and enjoyable instruction in the NZ bush environment and deliver this with your individual personality and experiences.

You will first ‘learn the ropes’ at the Boyle as an instructor, getting familiar with our systems from the ground up. Once inducted successfully as an instructor you will be allocated programmes throughout the year that you will co-ordinate and manage instead of instructing. You will be leading the team of instructors to deliver the required outcomes of each week.
