As an adventurous and ambitious graduate from Brunel University London I am now looking to contribute to a sector that promotes these particular attributes. I take great pride in being able to work under unfavourable conditions, as I have spent my entire life overcoming both physical and elemental challenges. As a result of this, I can therefore face difficult situations with an optimistic sense of resilience. Furthermore, I excel when working as part of a team, and know how to balance friendly camaraderie with the need for decisive decision-making.

Employment History
Part-time Retail Assistant at Waterstones, Salisbury, England
November 2016 – Present
-My achievements here are demonstrated by the fact that I was originally hired on a temporary Christmas contract, but was eventually offered a permanent position as a result of my admirable contribution to the business.
-As well as ensuring continual customer satisfaction, I am also responsible for the operational demands of the business, and effectively manage incoming deliveries as well as stock transfers between the different branches of the company.
Part-time Retail Supervisor at Fifty-Six High Street, Salisbury, England
May 2013 – Present
-Whilst returning from university throughout a period of three years I helped to direct a small team of sales representatives in a competitive high-street environment, gaining considerable insight into the management of a thriving local business.
-I was primarily responsible for handling the shop’s daily finances, and was later made into a key-holder for the entire establishment, which I believe has helped me to reinforce my qualities as a leader.
Full-time Retail Assistant at DF Souvenirs, Queenstown, New Zealand October 2012 – January 2013
-Since I was determined to make my gap-year as productive as possible, I decided to try and gain work experience abroad, and was lucky enough to join DF’s diverse multinational retail team. Throughout my time in New Zealand I was responsible for directing costumers to a product or solution that suited their requirements, and I consider this experience in problem solving to be instrumental for achieving constructive results.
Part-time Retail Assistant at Fifty-Six High Street, Salisbury, England
March 2011 – August 2012
-Originally hired for only four months, I ultimately worked through two summers and one Christmas season, and demonstrated my commitment by taking on extra work where required, helping the shop to deal with an increasing level of sales.
Positions of Responsibility
-Social Secretary for the History Society at Brunel University. Responsibilities included the distribution of important course information, and the organisation of large events such as the department’s annual Christmas Ball, which has taught me how to effectively manage both people and financial resources.
-Course Representative at Brunel University. During my second year I acted as a liaison between the students and the staff, attending regular meetings in order to resolve issues that had been raised by the student body.
Awards and Achievements
-My final year dissertation, titled Taking up the Hatchet: How Native American Participation Altered the Conduct of the French Indian War, was awarded the S. Jay Kleinberg Dissertation Prize for the best study in Women’s Gender, Racial History, or the History of the Americas.
Personal Interests
-I have a keen interest in travelling, and have planned numerous expeditions around the world, visiting countries such as Slovenia, Morocco, New Zealand, Canada, and Croatia.
-I am an active individual with a passion for basketball, squash and athletic swimming.
-As a competent guitarist and singer I have also gained confidence from performing in front of large audiences.
-Finally, my interests in mountain biking, fly-fishing, orienteering and hiking have all taught me to step outside of my comfort zone, and to persevere in the face of adverse conditions.
